Basketball

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, typically composed of five players each, compete to score points by shooting a ball through the opposing team’s hoop, which is elevated 10 feet above the ground. The game is played on a rectangular court with a hoop at each end. Points are scored by making field goals, worth two or three points depending on the distance from the hoop, and by free throws, which are worth one point. The objective is to outscore the opposing team by strategically passing, dribbling, and shooting the ball while following specific rules regarding movement, fouls, and violations. Basketball encourages teamwork, coordination, and physical fitness, and can be played both indoors and outdoors. It is widely popular globally and is a key sport in many countries, with professional leagues, collegiate competitions, and international tournaments.
