Football

Football is a team sport involving two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, who compete to score goals by propelling a spherical ball into the opposing team’s goal primarily using their feet. The game is played on a rectangular field known as a pitch, with specific markings for boundaries, goals, and penalty areas. The objective is to score more goals than the opponent within the duration of the match, which is usually divided into two halves of 45 minutes each, with a 15-minute halftime break.

Football emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness, and is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game. It is played at various levels, from amateur leagues to professional competitions, and is governed internationally by organizations such as FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association). While the term “football” can have different meanings in various regions (as in American football or Canadian football), in most countries outside North America, it refers specifically to the sport known as soccer in the United States and Canada. Football is one of the most popular sports globally, celebrated for its ability to unite diverse cultures and communities.
