Cricket

Cricket is a bat-and-ball team sport that originated in England and is played between two teams, each typically consisting of eleven players. The game is played on a grassy field, at the center of which is a rectangular 22-yard-long pitch. Each team takes turns batting and fielding, with the objective of scoring runs while the opposing team tries to dismiss players.

A cricket match consists of innings, during which one team bats and attempts to score runs by hitting the ball and running between two sets of three wooden stumps, known as wickets, located at each end of the pitch. The bowling team attempts to prevent runs and dismiss the batters by hitting the wickets with the ball or catching the ball after it is hit but before it touches the ground.

Cricket is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of Cricket, and it can be played in various formats, including Test matches, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and Twenty20 matches. The sport is known for its complex strategies, traditions, and passionate fan following, particularly in countries such as India, Australia, England, and Pakistan.
